The educational and professional program is based on generally known scientific and practical results, taking into account the current state of application software engineering, and focused on relevant specializations for potential further professional and scientific career. The program has an applied focus on training specialists able to efficiently and reasonably solve problems of high-quality software design and development.
Goal of the educational program
To provide students with comprehensive programming training, algorithmic thinking and software engineering methods to develop software, taking into account the requirements for its quality, reliability, production characteristics.
Key focus of the educational program
Special education and professional training in software engineering.
Program features
The part of professional disciplines can be taught in English (bilingual education). The part of relevant topics can be taught by representatives of leading IT companies in the form of workshops. The program implies the integration of practical training with the general university center for informatization of all activity areas of the university where students produce application software on request of university units.
Department of Information Technology is an education and research unit of the European Business School.
General information
International European University founded the Department of Information Technology in 2021. The Department is led by Oleksandr Nesterenko, a well-known scientist and specialist in information systems and technologies, Doctor of Science (Techn.), associate professor, senior researcher, Honorary Communicator of Ukraine, Honored employee of the service sector of Ukraine.
Department history
The establishment of the Department as part of the European Business School was accompanied by rich events in the history of International European University development. While developing the young and ambitious higher education institution marked by the creation of individual structural units, one came up with an idea of founding the Department of Information Technology headed by Oleksandr Nesterenko, one of Ukraine’s well-known scientists.
The newly founded Department involves the competent academic staff with wide experience in higher education institutions and in leading and specialized positions at IT companies. The current teaching staff of the Department are the authors of several hundred scientific and methodical works (including textbooks, guides, monographs, scientific articles, and foreign publications).
At the initial stage of its functioning, the author team of the newly established Department, consisting of Doctor of Science (Techn.) Oleksandr Nesterenko, Doctor of Science (Physics and Mathematics) Anatolii Kudin, and PhD in Technical Science Oleksandr Falovskyi, developed the first educational program in the Information technology knowledge area: Software Engineering. The demand for IT industry development in Ukraine affected the name of the Department and the content of the educational program. The latter includes educational components aimed at training highly skilled professionals ready for successful professional activities in programming and management of software projects at the national and international levels.
Besides, the academic staff developed author’s courses focused on in-depth study of software development disciplines and training of future IT professionals to implement application functions at startups, small firms, and large companies.
Department’s scientific activities
Research activities of the academic staff cover relevant issues of the development of information technology, in particular, digitalization of the educational process. Department-wide research topic: Research on the development of higher education potential based on online teaching and learning. The Department team pays great attention to student scientific activities. On the initiative of Oleksandr Nesterenko, the Head of the Department, one started the preparation of student scientific papers for publication in the university’s electronic scientific journal titled Scientific and Student Discourse in order to promote the development of student science at the university https://ieu.edu.ua/nauka/naukove-tovarystvo/naukovo-students-kij-diskurs/naukovo-students-kij-diskurs-ukrajins-ka-mova .
The teaching staff of the Department are involved in the editorial board of journals and organizing committees of international scientific conferences (in particular, collections of scientific papers: Society. Economy. Digitalization, Environmental Safety and Nature Management; journals: WSEAS Transactions on Environment and Development, Journal of Electromagnetics; International Scientific Conference: Mathematics And Computers In Science & Engineering. MACISE, etc.).
The Department cooperates with the Institute of Software Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukraine’s and world’s well-known scientific institution engaged in the development of fundamental and applied scientific research in programming and information technology.
The agenda includes the development of department’s international activities, particularly in terms of close cooperation withindustry-specific departments of foreign universities.
